Winter Forest In A Bowl

Ahhhh, I just love the Fall and Winter seasons. The crisp air, the cozy smells, the chunky sweaters…it’s just a happy time of year for me.  

As we step into the full swing of the Holiday Season, we wanted to provide some easy recipes that are all BrūKit approved and Smart Burn strong! 

A note on our Smart Burn Method:

Our society has blamed weight gain on certain foods and lack of exercise. Well, if that’s the case then explain why a person can restrict all those “bad” foods and workout like a banshee but only lose a couple pounds, or none at all? It’s because the “bad” foods aren’t the whole problem. Weight gain is the result of your metabolism storing extra energy from food; it doesn’t discriminate against different sources of carbs, fat, or protein…whole wheat bread and pizza dough both register as a “CARB” to our body. Obviously, the quality of flour plays a part on the overall nutrients provided and absorbed by our body, but for the sake of this illustration, say it’s good quality whole wheat bread and whole wheat pizza dough…it’s the same thing to our body. My point is, there is something else at play here. The weight gain doesn’t come from the fact that you chose the pizza over the sandwich; it’s because your metabolism received a message to store the energy instead of burn it.

With that, here is a delicious Smart Burn Plate that we call a Gold Plate. It’s protein rich, and nutrient dense. It creates an atmosphere in your body where you will burn, burn, burn due to its composition of available macros. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  1. Mixed greens
  2. Roasted acorn squash, diced
  3. Pomegranate seeds
  4. Pumpkin seeds
  5. Hard boiled eggs (3)
  6. Feta

Place contents into a bowl and dress. 

Dressing:

  1. 3 parts olive oil 
  2. 1 part sesame oil
  3. 1 part apple cider vinegar
  4. 1 Tbsp mustard
  5. 1 tsp honey
  6. Salt and pepper to taste

Shake until emulsified, drizzle over salad.
